Part 6

At the Condor building...

The thirteen men watched through the mirror as the five men, one girl, and one boy were conversing. They had seen the battle Nicholas had with the Ronins. They also saw the girl spoil Nicholas’s plans. And watch as Nicholas committed suicide in one last attempt of destroying the Ronins.

Master Cane waved his hand and the image disappeared.

“Nicholas came closer to succeeding than I thought he would. But in the end my prediction came true. Now it’s time for us to put my plan into action before the Ronins come here.”

“How shall we precede?” asked Tim.

“By first making sure that their White Armor of Inferno doesn’t become a problem. Alfred!”

A well muscled man in a butler suit entered the room. He carried a little girl in his arms that was tied up. She had golden blonde hair and sky blue eyes that gave her an almost angelic look.

“Everyone be prepared. We are casting one powerful spell that will make sure the White Armor is never a problem again.”

The mansion...

“Well we might be in one major battle tomorrow, so everyone get some rest.” said Ryo as he got up and headed for bed.

“Mia before we go to bed, can you show me your computer?” asked Nanko.

“Sure, it’s in my room.” said Mia while knowing that Nanko had just said that as an excuse to go in her room.

The two quickly entered Mia’s room and then she closed the door.

“Now why don’t you tell me why they didn’t recognize me with the armor on.”

“Ok, but first I need to explain another little detail about the armor.”

“Nanko!”

“I know, I know, but this will answer your question. You know that the nine armors made from Talpa’s armor can be used for either good or evil. Well the Heavenlight armor can only be used for good.”

“Huh?”

“The Gin wanted to make sure with absolute certainty that the armor couldn’t be used for evil. So they made the armor partially... alive. I’m not saying that it has thoughts or that it can talk, but it responds in certain ways to you instinctively. For instance, if it senses that your about to hurt an innocent, then the armor will complete freeze itself. But if it sensed that you needed to lift your hand or you would die, then it would use the remainder of the armor’s strength to help lift that hand.”

“Ok, but how does that answer my question.”

“You know now that if you tell the other Ronins about your secret then theirs a good chance you could die. The armor now knows this as well then. So to protect you from getting yourself killed, it produced an aura around your body that causes the Ronins not to be able to recognize you.”

“The armor can do that?” asked Mia as she glanced at her bracelets

“Theirs many powers the armor has that I don’t know about. I only knew about this certain one because of the Gin.”

“Is it possible that the armor responded to me and helped me use my special technique because of what I was thinking?”

“It’s possible.”

“So how do I get the armor to respond that same way again?” asked Mia as she looked up at Nanko.

“Don’t look at me, your the one wearing the armor.” said Nanko as he shrugged his shoulders.

“Can’t you ask your Gin? Aren’t they back by now?” asked Mia with frustration.

“Their back, but it would be too hard to explain that kind of stuff to you. Especially when it’s in rhyme. A wise boy once said, ‘Their are some things that just can’t be explained, but must be experienced.’ “ said Nanko as he attempted to look wise and solemn.

“Right, now get out.”

“Huh!?”

“I’m going to bed. It’s been a long day.”

“No can do Mia. It’s time to start your training.”

“It’s ten o’clock at night Nanko!”

“And if we train all night, then you should be ready.”

“Ready for what?!”

“To help the Ronins tomorrow. Let’s not fool ourselves. It only took one EC Brother to almost defeat them. If you hadn’t been around then they would be pigeon idols right now.”

Mia muttered something extremely ugly and rude as she got a sweater.

Both Mia and Nanko crept out of the house and headed for the woods. When they got there Nanko turned and faced Mia.

“Ok, now change into your armor.”

“Armor of HeavenLight, Tao Chi!”

*Flash*

After a few spins in the air and a dramatic flash of white light, Mia stood in her silver armor with spear equipped and ready.

“Now remember the story I told you about Leono. Another power of your armor is that it will allow you to learn fighting skills much faster than a normal person. Theirs just one problem with this...”

“What?” asked Mia as she prepared for the bad news.

“You’ll forget all these fighting moves when your not wearing your armor. You’ll know zip when you take it off.” said Nanko as he looked down on the floor.

“That’s fine with me.”

“It is?” asked Nanko as he looked up in surprise.

“Nanko if I had wanted to learn to fight then I would have asked the Ronins long ago to teach me. The reason I didn’t is because I believe I can use my brain to solve my problems instead of muscle. The only reason I even agreed to learn to fight while wearing the HeavenLight armor is because the Gin say I’ll ‘turn wrong into right’. Which I guess means I’ll help people more by using the HeavenLight armor. But I have no interest in learning to fight personally. I’m doing this more out of duty to help the Ronins.”

Nanko slowly nodded.

“Ok, lets be Gin...”

Nanko’s staff appeared in the air and he grabbed it. Using is as a spear, he showed Mia the basic forms of attacks and defense. Nanko wasn’t kidding when he said that the armor would let her learn faster. By the time it reached midnight, Mia knew the basics to using the spear. For the rest of the night they learned the basics of hand to hand combat.

At the Condor Building...

“Alfred and Gives, take the next few days off. We’re going to have some nasty company.” says Master Cane as he gestured to the two butlers to leave. Both bowed and left through the door.

“No need to risk losing the servants during this battle. Now is everything ready Tim?” says Master Cane as he turned around.

“See for yourself Master Cane.” says Tim as he gestures towards the girl. She was still tied up. She was in both a circle of blood and a circle of Dark Crystal rocks. She curled herself up in a ball and stared at Master Cane with fear.

“Good, now everyone remember this. The White Armor is in a pocket dimension, a private reality which has been created to hold the armor itself. Normally it could only be brought to this world by the combined power of the five Ronin armors, but we are going to try to bring it here using Dark Crystal. Then we will use our blood to cast a spell on both this girl and the armor. Everyone make sure to have the two spells memorized that we are going to cast.”

The other EC Brothers nod and formed a circle around the girl. Master Cane approached the circle of blood surrounding the girl and unrolled his sleeve. He drew out a long curved knife and added his blood to the circle. Then he closed his eyes.

White Armor of Inferno, We call upon you to appear before us
White Armor of Inferno, We summon you to this reality and time
White Armor of Inferno, We hold you away from your proper place in the River of Possibilities

Dark Crystal I ask for your Power!

The men repeated the phrase over and over again. The Dark Crystal rocks surrounding the girl each began to vibrate. And soon each rock was making a high pitch sound. After the third time of saying the phrases, the air above the girl started to shimmer. After the fifth time of saying the phrases, the White Armor could be seen over the girl. But it was transparent.

*Crack*

A few of the Dark Crystal rocks cracked as the White Armor became more solid. After the eighth time of saying the phrases, the White Armor was complete solid and floating a few feet above the girl. The girl watched the armor with both fascination and fear.

“Quickly now, before our spell to hold it here wears off.” says Master Cane and then beGins the next spell.

Innocent and White Armor, Let your bodies become melded
Innocent and White Armor, Let your minds become shared
Innocent and White Armor, Let your souls become bonded

Life Blood I ask for your Power!

As soon as the spell was cast, the White Armor transformed.

*Boom*

It became a ball of fire and flame. The girl screamed as she saw the ball of fire lower itself towards her. Soon she was completely engulfed and all she could see around her was flames. Then everything turned black...

At the mansion...

It was almost morning when Ryo woke up. He opened his eyes and quickly got up.

Something’s wrong... I thought I heard a scream.

Ryo listened carefully, but all he could hear was crickets. He went back to bed, but couldn’t seem to sleep. Finally he gave up and went downstairs. He went outside to the porch and gave Whiteblaze a pat on the head who was sleeping there.

When it came morning Mia decided she had enough.

“I need to get a little sleep before the guys go to Condor building Nanko.”

“But your not ready. You could possibly hold your own against a single demon soldier and that’s it.”

“Well it’s going to have to be enough.”

Nanko went inside to his bedroom. Mia went to her own room and changed into her night gown and robe. Then went downstairs to get a glass of water before taking her nap. She looked out the kitchen window and could see Ryo on the porch. Mia went outside and joined him. Whiteblaze was lying next to him, fast asleep.

“Hey Mia, wow you look like you need a bit more sleep.” says Ryo as he noticed how tired Mia looked.

“Yeah, I keep having this nightmare where a little troll is making me exercise till I feel like I’m going to throw up.” says Mia as she sits next to Ryo.

Ryo nod once and then looked at the morning sun. The combination of orange light and pink and purple sky was a beautiful sight.

“So why are you up this early?” asked Mia slightly curious.

“I just couldn’t sleep. I thought I heard this scream, but I guess it was just my imaGination. Also I keep getting this feeling...”

“Feeling?”

“Like something’s missing. Like I just lost something, but I don’t know what it is. I guess that sounds strange.”

“Not as all. I’ve said a whole lot of stranger stuff than that.” says Mia. Both were silent for a few minutes and watched the sun.

“Ryo why didn’t you want me to know about those five girls?” asked Mia. The question just popped into her head.

“Maybe I didn’t want you to think we were sexist pigs with dog brains.” said Ryo with a teasing smile.

“Oh I didn’t mean that. I was just upset becuase..well um...” said Mia as she started to blush.

“Because of what?”

“Um nothing. So what do you think of this Leono?” said Mia as she attempted to change the subject.

“I only met her for ten minutes. I’m really not sure what to think of her. She certainly is a private person. She seems nice.” says Ryo as he thought back to the meeting he had with her.

“Well maybe she can help you guys.”

“Possibly, but Rowen was right. She definitely isn’t battle experienced.”

“Oh” said Mia feeling slightly hurt.

“To tell the truth I think it’s too dangerous for her to be fighting. You have to be pretty good and you can usually tell how good a warrior is at the first look. Just by looking at her, I could tell that she could never really become good enough to fight the kinds of monsters we fight.”

“I see” said Mia as her hurt turned to anger.

“And call me old fashion, but I really don’t think a girl should be out there fighting demon soldiers and people like Nicholas. Some nasty stuff can happen out there that a girl just couldn’t handle.”

“You don’t say” said Mia as she fought the urge to slap him against the head.

“Yeah, I guess it comes down to- hey where are you going?” said Ryo as he noticed Mia leaving. Mia turned around as she tried to keep the anger out of her face.

“I’m sorry Ryo, but I have to go knit a blanket.”

And with that she quickly entered the house.

“Was it something I said.” muttered Ryo as he looked back at the sun.

“Girls shouldn’t be fighting demon soldiers huh!” muttered Mia as she ran up the stairs. She quickly changed into some clothes in her room and went to Nanko’s room.

“Wake up Nanko, time for some training!” says Mia as she entered Nanko’s room.

Nanko didn’t respond, but stayed asleep.

“Come on Nanko. I’m going to show that Ryo just how ‘good’ my fighting skills are.” says Mia as she shakes Nanko.

Nanko yawned and opened his eyes.

“Mia I thought you wanted to- aaacckk!”

Mia’s face was only inches from his. He could swear that she had a look of wanting to murder someone.

“Come on, let’s get going!” says Mia as she grabs Nanko’s hand and drags Nanko out of bed and down the stairs. Luckily for her, Nanko decided to sleep in his clothes.

Nanko and Mia reached the woods and Mia quickly put her armor on. They began practicing on the spear again, but this time learning more complicated moves. Sometimes Nanko would listen to the ‘voices’ in his head before teaching her a move. It seemed that they told him what moves to teach her when the training got truly complicated. After two hours of practicing, Nanko called for a break.

“Sorry about hitting your foot like that.” says Mia as she gives him another ice pack.

“Don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt too much if I don’t move it a lot. I just want to know one thing...”

“What?”

“What in the world happened to put this urge into you to practice like crazy?”

“Why do you want to know?” mutters Mia as she stared at the floor.

“Because I want to make sure it happens again when this burst of enthusiasm wears off.” says Nanko as he grinned.

Mia looked up and returned the grin with one of her own.

“Well if you must know, it’s because of something Ryo said. He said that girls shouldn’t fight and that girls couldn’t handle tough situations that happen in battle.” says Mia as she tries to keep the anger and hurt out of her voice.

“But isn’t that what you just told me last night?”

“What!!!” shouted Mia as she gave Nanko a furious glare.

“I mean, um you see, well you did say you don’t like to fight and be in battles.” mutters Nanko as he took a few steps back.

“That’s because I consider myself an intellectual, not because I’m a girl. Being a girl doesn’t atomically mean that a person can’t be good at fighting.” says Mia as she gets up.

“Now I’m pumped up so let’s get it on!” cried Mia as she slapped her spear against the ground.

“Ok” said Nanko as he cringed from Mia and went to get his staff. While trying not to put too much pressure on his left foot.

The guys planned to go to the Condor building precisely at noon. That gave Mia and Nanko three hours to practice. After the first two hours Mia had truly made great progress. In Nanko’s opinion she could hold her own against three or four demon soldiers. The third hour they spent taking Nanko to the doctor because Mia accidentally fractured one of his ribs with one hit.
